A couple years ago we accidentally stumbled upon this great Sugar Free Hot Apple Cider mix by Alpine while at our local Walmart. We don't usually shop for sugar free items for our Type 1 Diabetic kiddo (sugar free doesn't mean carb free - and often times the carbs are almost as much as the regular one, so why sacrifice taste to save a couple grams of carbs?!?!) We gave it a try and OHMYGOODNESS it is sooooo good! We all love it (well, except for little mister). We normally drink a lot of it in the colder months, so we keep no less than 2 packages in the house at all times.
This year I'd been looking for it in my local stores and haven't found it ANYWHERE, and was starting to get bummed about it... it was well into the cold season and when we want something warm in the evening without any caffeine, this is what we turn to! So I checked on Amazon and found it in a bulk pack - I don't normally want that much of it, but I'd rather have too much than not enough of it :P
Yep, that's 12 boxes in that case, and each box contains 10 packets :P So we're set for a while lol! But at only 4g carbs per packet, it could be a treat that doesn't require a bolus for our T1D. [As always, consult your medical team before making a decision like that]. What are some cold weather treats that you enjoy?
